These terms apply when you use The Library of Lost Ideas at thelibraryoflostideas.com. The site is run by Harry Perkins, trading as Mrgreenglimmer ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to these terms. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
Your ideas stay yours
You keep ownership of the ideas, words and other content you submit. We do not claim ownership of your ideas, and we will never sell your ideas or the intellectual property in them.
The licence you give us
So that the library can work, when you submit an idea or a note you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, reproduce, share and promote that submission as part of the library — for example, showing it in the universe, in Discover, in share images and links, and in posts that showcase the library. This lets us run the site; it does not let us sell your idea or license it to others to build.
The licence continues while your submission is on the library. If we remove it at your request, we will stop using it in new material, though copies already shared publicly (for example, a past social post) may remain.
Submissions made before 3 November 2026 stay exactly as they were shared and are displayed on the same basis as before. Nothing in these terms adds new commercial permissions to them or transfers their ownership.
Submissions are public
Everything you submit as an idea or note is published publicly and can be seen, shared and remembered by anyone. Other people may be inspired by it. Please don't share confidential information, trade secrets, or an invention you may want to patent: publishing it can affect your ability to protect it later. If in doubt, take advice before submitting.
What you must not post
You agree not to submit anything that:
- is unlawful, or encourages illegal activity;
- is racist, hateful, threatening, harassing, or seriously abusive towards a person or group;
- is sexual, or harmful to children;
- copies someone else's work, or infringes copyright, trade marks or other rights;
- contains someone else's private or personal information;
- is spam, advertising, or an attempt to mislead.
Humour and honest frustration are welcome. You confirm that what you submit is yours to share.
How we look after the library
We may check, hide, edit for safety, or remove any submission that breaks these terms or that we reasonably believe is harmful. Visitors can report ideas, and ideas with several reports may be hidden automatically until we review them. We may block or limit anyone who misuses the site, for example by spamming or abusing others. We are not obliged to monitor everything, and submissions reflect the views of the people who post them, not ours.
Accounts and connections
Signing in is optional. Keep access to your email secure, as sign-in links go there. "Connect with creator" only shares email addresses when the creator accepts. Please be respectful in any conversation that follows; what happens after an introduction is between you and the other person.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something on the library infringes your rights, contact us through the Contact page with a link to it and an explanation, and we will look into it promptly.
Future services
We may add new features, including paid services, sponsorship or partnerships, to keep the library going. If we do, we will continue to respect your ownership of your ideas and the limits of the licence above. If a new service would need further permission from you, we will ask for it separately.
Our responsibility to you
The library is provided free, "as is". We try to keep it running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and ideas on it are not advice. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or that arise from content posted by other people.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and significant changes will be made clear on the site. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of the UK have jurisdiction.
